Bio |
Jacqueline West is originally from Virginia, where she was raised in a large family with 6 siblings. Jacqueline received a Bachelor’s in Social Sciences from the University of Maine in 1983, then went on to earn a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from the University of Virginia in 1988.
Jacqueline served the public for 30 years in the nonprofit arena. Jacqueline worked at Child & Family Guidance in the Psychology Department for 10 years as a therapist and as the Director of the Family and Community Education Department. Jacqueline served as the Program Director at Shared Housing Center, a transitional housing facility for single, homeless women with children. Jacqueline worked as the Director of Community Youth Development, a juvenile delinquency prevention program; and as the Deputy Director of Community Council of Greater Dallas, a social service agency.
Jacqueline West’s career in non-profit programs and management helped influence her decision to enter real estate. Knowing that stable permanent housing anchors people in their communities and provides other social benefits such as improved health, higher test scores for children, increased civic engagement, and volunteerism, provides a motivating factor to help connect people and families to their future homes.
Although Jacqueline continues work as a Realtor, her love for seniors and pets made the transition to Executive Director at SPAN a perfect fit. Jacqueline feels honored to be part of an organization that helps low-income seniors afford to keep their companions longer. The agency’s compassionate services help prevent feelings of isolation and loneliness and improve the clients’ lives.
Jacqueline is the mother of two adult children and has two grandchildren. She is a member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church. Jacqueline West enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, reading, and daily walks with her dogs.
