Inside the Housing Policy Symposium: Alliance Members Take Their Stories to Capitol Hill
This year’s survey focuses on housing affordability, the wealth gap, and what comes next for Gen Z — including the Gen Z LGBTQ+ population, now 23% of adults under 30.
REAL FACES, REAL STORIES, AND A DIRECT LINE TO THE PEOPLE SHAPING HOUSING POLICY
Alliance members and advocates descended on Washington, D.C. this June for the Housing Policy Symposium — one of the Alliance's most important advocacy events of the year. Over the course of the gathering, attendees heard from more than a dozen speakers, including representatives from PFLAG and the Williams Institute, on the state of fair housing protections for LGBTQ+ people nationwide.
The Symposium's centerpiece was a direct meeting with California Congresswoman Sara Jacobs, where Alliance members spoke candidly about what's at stake as federal fair housing protections face new threats. Rather than statistics alone, members brought their own experiences as LGBTQ+ homebuyers, renters, and real estate professionals — putting a face and a story behind the policy debate.
