A Message From President Tommie Wehrle
Hello Ya'll,
Every June, our community comes together to celebrate Pride, our history, our resilience, our joy, and the hard-fought progress of those who came before us. This year carries a deeper sense of meaning and urgency, reminding us that visibility, advocacy, and unity remain essential. Across the country, LGBTQ+ individuals continue to face real challenges, from legislation targeting transgender people, to efforts to erase our stories and protections, to the ongoing discrimination experienced in workplaces, housing, schools, and communities. While these conversations are often framed as political, they are, at their core, deeply personal. That is exactly why Pride continues to matter.
Pride has never been solely about celebration. It began as a movement rooted in courage, individuals standing up to demand dignity, equality, safety, and respect. As we honor how far we have come, we must recognize that progress is never guaranteed. Each generation is called to carry this work forward. As members of the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance, we understand the importance of building communities where everyone feels welcomed, protected, and valued. Home is more than a place — it is where people should feel safe being fully themselves, and that mission is more important now than ever.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of celebrating many Pride Months filled with joy, connection, and a powerful sense of belonging. Today, there is a heightened awareness, one that reminds us not to take our visibility, our rights, or our community for granted. At the same time, I am continually inspired by the strength of this community — people who show up, speak out, and support one another with unwavering commitment. Even in challenging moments, we lead with love, authenticity, and hope. We advocate not only for ourselves, but for future generations who deserve to grow up in a world where they are fully accepted, and we continue creating spaces where diversity is embraced and inclusion stands stronger than division.
This Pride Month, let us celebrate boldly and with purpose. Let us honor those who paved the way while standing beside those still fighting to be seen and protected. Let us recommit ourselves to advocacy, allyship, and meaningful community — through deeper engagement in our chapters, by building relationships across this powerful network, and by showing up for moments that matter, including the Alliance Housing Symposium in Washington, D.C., where we come together to advance fair housing and strengthen our collective voice.
This is not just about learning more to be a more effective advocate, educator, and ally to one another — but to also NETWORK! Richard Woods, our 2027 President Elect, has recently hit over 30 referrals from this powerful membership. Come connect and establish those relationships so you too can benefit from the extraordinary network.
Showing up is one of the most powerful actions we can take. Because Pride is not fading. Pride is not retreating. Pride is enduring, evolving, and moving forward — together.
— Tommie Wehrle, 2026 National President, LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance
5th Annual LGBTQ+ Housing Policy Symposium — Last Chance to Register
ACLU-tracked anti-LGBTQ+ legislation has surged to record levels. Queer voices are being systematically silenced in statehouses across the country, and our community is growing. The 5th Annual LGBTQ+ Housing Policy Symposium — June 11–12 in Washington, D.C. — is one of the most direct ways the Alliance answers back. Registration is open. We need to show up.
Our Community Is Growing — and Being Targeted
More Americans identify as LGBTQ+ than ever before. The legislative response has been hostility rather than inclusion. Real estate professionals have a direct role in protecting the right of LGBTQ+ people to find stable, safe housing.Federal Fair Housing Protections Under Attack
HUD's proposed rollback of the Equal Access Rule would remove anti-discrimination protections from Section 8, public housing, and other HUD programs. The comment period closes June 29 — your voice at the Symposium and in your comments is needed now.Discriminatory Legislation Is Increasing
Hundreds of anti-LGBTQ+ bills have been introduced in statehouses in the last year alone. Your presence at the Symposium puts real faces in front of the people writing these laws — and that matters.
Registration is still open for our 5th annual LGBTQ+ Housing Policy Symposium — June 11–12 in Washington, D.C. This is where the Alliance makes its voice heard on Capitol Hill.
