The LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance
There is no summer relaxation at the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance. Since we launched in early June, members of the Steering Committee and Executive Committee have spent more than 3,000 combined hours working to get us up and running.
The hope is that by October 1 we will launch!
Before we get to that historic day, there were a few details we had to work out.
The first was our name. Way back in June, we started calling ourselves the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance. Soon, everyone involved referred to our new group as “The Alliance.” But we weren’t sure that name would stick and our Branding Committee looked at numerous other possibilities.
But every potential name paled in comparison to what we originally had. So we are sticking to it.
Here is how we came up with the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance:
- We wanted to be known as an all-inclusive LGBTQ group that allows for all in the community to feel accepted.
- We wanted to honor the importance of allies – non-LGBTQ people who are supportive of our community.
- While previous LGBTQ groups in real estate focused primarily on residential real estate, we want to be a home for other professionals. We will have a voice for commercial real estate practitioners, those in title and mortgage, along with others ancillary services like home warranty, interior design and countless other industries.
- The word “Alliance” just fit. We are made up of such a diverse group of people who have come together to advocate on behalf of the LGBTQ consumer and professional. We also want to work seamlessly with other diverse organizations – inside and out of the real estate industry.
Hope you like it!
