As an active-duty member of the US Air Force for over two decades, he accrued over 2,790 hours of flight time in various aircraft as a Master Navigator. Notably, he served as a Presidential Advance Officer for Air Force One (AF-1). Randy retired from the Air Force with the rank of Major in 2004, having received numerous awards and decorations such as the Meritorious Service Medal, Aerial Achievement Medal, and the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal.
